NUME

ヌメ

Preserving the original texture of the cow hide and enjoying its changes.

This leather preserves the natural character of the material, offering a soft, skin-like touch. Its fine, delicate texture can be appreciated as it is.Tanned using only natural vegetable tannins, the leather gradually develops in tone as the tannins oxidise, shifting towards a light brown hue. Over time, natural oils and marks from use are absorbed into the leather, creating a distinctive and richly evolving character.

  • Ageing

As the surface is left completely uncoated, exposure to water may result in staining, and marks from handling will develop with use.The leather will gradually deepen in colour from a pale, natural tone to a rich amber hue. However, in areas exposed to direct sunlight, the tannins may fade, causing the leather to lighten in colour.(Please note: this does not affect the durability of the leather.)

  • Essential maintenance to preserve durability

This maintenance oil is formulated using the same ingredients as those used in the tanning of our oil leather. It is designed to help maintain the leather’s durability over time. (Please note: this product does not provide stain protection.)

  • For enhanced durability and added water resistance

The water-repellent properties of beeswax form a protective layer on the leather surface, slowing moisture absorption and helping to reduce the penetration of water-based stains. In addition, beeswax minimises wear caused by friction and enhances the durability of the leather surface.
